This isn’t simply resizing the image to fit the screen, this is actually concealing the edges so as you increase the browser’s page, for instance, more of the image is revealed. Depending on the size of the browser page or the actual device’s screen, the background image will show more - or less - of its content. XWDP helps you make fully responsive sites, and this also includes intricate options such as resizing photos used as background images. XWDP makes it really easy to access those features, and apply them to your creation. These features create a much more dynamic feel to your design and encourages interaction. They work best when the pages are actually of the same dimension (which is a design issue, as when creating websites, one generally doesn’t need to think about such restrictions), and although fun, it feels more like a gimmick which could get pretty tedious if you visit the site often. Unlike the animations for objects we just discussed, these page animations are site-wide. You can for instance have the animation triggered as the cursor moves onto it, or animate you content as the visitor scrolls down the page.Īdding animations to objects is as easy as right-clicking (Image credit: Xara)Īnimations can also be added when moving from page to page, and there’s a host of options for this. You can animate your objects so they interact with the viewer. Modern sites take advantage of HTML5’s animation features, and XWDP is fully compliant with these. It’s like working in a desktop publishing application, and helps you make your page look exactly as you want it. By setting an object as “repulsive”, you’ll see text within a text box automatically wrap around that abject as you drag it, so nothing is obstructed. You can for instance sprinkle images throughout your text, wherever you want them to be. This restriction does make for a simpler service, but also curtails your creativity. If you check out some competing web-based services, you’ll notice nearly all limit where you can put your content on the page. Templates come with multiple pages, which you are then free to totally customise (Image credit: Xara) Moving aroundĪnd this goes hand in hand with the ability to drag and drop whatever you’re adding to your page, exactly where you want it. Emoji art may also use other Unicode symbols as well - text art with emojis is fairly common because there aren't enough emojis to represent all the different shapes required to do good emoji art. Once such experimental exploration has been into the use of emojis in artwork - just like the original ASCII art used ASCII characters, so emoji art uses emojis. So we can now put emojis in any text that we want and just treat them like normal text characters - we can even copy and paste emojis just like we do with text! Along with this text emoji hype, there's been lots of experimentation with how they're used. Unicode has steadily introduced more emojis over the last few years and internet browser and operating systems (like iOS and Android) are also supporting textual emojis. This means that text can actually contain emojis (not images embedded in text). Fairly recently, Unicode introduced a large number of "emoji" characters into its specification. They are very quickly aligning with all of Unicode's text symbols. This is particularly so for the big browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge. Huge players in the computing industry like Google, Facebook, Twitter, Windows, Mozilla and Apple have used Unicodes standards to decide on the symbols that should be renderable. In case you haven't heard of it before, its a standards body which helps the whole computing industry decide on which letters, characters and, in general, text that should be implemented and be usable by the operators of those devices. I figured that since people are making emoji drawings and sending emoji messages more often, that it would be a good idea to create a site where people could come and share their emoji creations and copy and paste emoji art to their social media posts really easily. Hello and welcome to Emoji Art! I made this site because I noticed that people are starting to make emoji pictures more often, especially on Twitter, WhatsApp and related sites. Like I said, that’s a more time-consuming way of starting off. Keep in mind that this is not exactly how the final product will look since all of the beads will be on their sides and the cord will be visible on the ends of each row. I started off with my jack-o’-lantern pattern to get a good idea of how combining the two patterns would work out. I tend to only do this when I’m creating or adapting a pattern. This is a more time-consuming way of starting off, but gives you a good idea how it will look. Once you have your equipment gathered, you might want to lay out your beads into the pattern. I may or may not have forgotten to pick some up and therefore decided to make mine without it, but it’s easier for newbies to start the projects by knotting a key ring halfway through their cord. The last thing you may want to pick up is key rings, which is the “traditional” way of starting off your beadie buddies. I have since found this variety pack of cord in lots of great colours, but haven’t tried it yet. Usually, I much prefer using silk/satin cord, but I couldn’t find any in time to do this craft. You’ll also see my spool of plastic lacing there, too, because you need something to string the beads on. I do not enjoy using this plastic for my beadie buddies – it doesn’t wrap as well, nor does it tie as well, leaving some of your creations a bit warped (for example, look at the bottom of my Jack O’Lantern – he’s going to be re-done once I find some cord I like). Trust me, get the cheaper ones if you can – I’ve never found a difference in quality. I can usually get most of my supplies from the dollar store, but sometimes I have to also make a trip to Michaels. Once you have your patterns picked out, you need the right colours of pony beads. There are relatively few top coaches with Black Orcs. Stunties aren’t great matchups for the team either with Snotlings (35.4%) and Halflings (40%) both bossing the matchup. The remaining twelve teams that Black Orcs really struggle with largely fall into two categories Bash teams that can outbash them (Tomb Kings 34.7%, Orcs 43.4% and Dwarves 39.9%) and other teams with good movement pieces (Slann 37.9%, Lizardmen 39.7%, Elf Union 35.9%, Dark Elves 37.4%, Humans 41.7%). All four of those teams have good speed across the entire team and, with the exception of Underworld, they can all also put at least four pieces with movement eight on the board, double that of a base black orc. Wood Elves (22.6%), Underworld (27.9%), Skaven (31.8%), High Elves (34.4%) all boast the best performances against the Blorcs. Speed is a very clear factor in their toughest matchups. Unfortunately, the Black Orcs had unhealthy win rates against the remaining sixteen teams in Blood Bowl (<45%). Notably, movement 7 is the best any of those teams can put on the board and only Undead can field more than two of those players. With the exception of Necro, they are also all slow bash teams where the poor speed of the Black Orc team is less of a liability.īlack Orcs did post healthy win rates (45-50%) against seven further teams: Chaos Dwarves (48.8), Imperial Nobility (48.3%), Vampires (48.1%), Goblins (48.1%), Norse (47.6%), Undead (46.6%) and Renegades (45.7%). Necro has the best global win rate of those teams at 49.9%, followed by Khorne at 47.8%. As stated in previous posts, those aren’t exactly high performing teams in 2022. They only managed positive records against three other teams Chaos Chosen (52.3%), Ogres (51.5%) and Necro (50.4%). They had >55% win rates against Nurgle (62.5%) and Khorne (57.1%). What we are looking at is consistency and ability to regularly compete with other teams, particularly amongst average coaches.īlack Orcs didn’t regularly take the scalp of any strong teams in 2022. Like any team, well coached, they can beat anyone on their day. The short answer to that is of course yes. They have all of the weaknesses of Lizards with no speed to make up for it. The team has never inspired me to play them. However, I think I had one practice game with them just after the new edition came out. The models are great and I have a soft spot for a bit of greenskin (I had a Warhammer fantasy army of Orcs and Goblins back in the day). What’s my bias? I have a fully painted Black Orc team. How bad? I take a deep dive below into their performances in 2022 looking at matchups, top coaches and Eurobowl 2022. Their global 43.1% win rate in 2022 is truly bad. In my look at the global tournament numbers for 2022 in a previous post, I singled out Black Orcs for some special treatment.
